As of noon today we are at 3/4 of an inch of rain already. Finally we are getting some rain for North Carolina. Hopefully our drought will end before the summer begins. Although I am not a meteorologist I often wonder if only a tropical storm or a hurricane will fully get us out of the drought. I wish I had gone down to Stephen’s Hardware in Fuquay Varina this week and bought some rain barrels. At my residence we have a well and our family has implemented several water conserving techniques for several months now. You do not realize how much water you waste until you take the time and observe your water practices. The military shower is my favorite although that will change once short season comes into play. Freezing for a minute or two while you suds up is not bad. Freezing for several minutes in order to fully shave your legs might be tough. The things women do in the name of beauty. (It really is not that bad). I have cut down my shower water usage to about 2.5 minutes. Compared to my previous record of 5 minutes I am pleased. My husband makes fun of me stating that he cannot believe that I can clean myself that quickly. Well I look at this way $3000 for a new well or a few minutes of cold air while I suds up? Not a very hard decision. My idea of a hard decision is buying the fresh fruit or my favorite cupcakes at Whole Foods. That is also a no brainer but boy do I love Whole Foods cupcakes. It always amazes me how I can go from one topic to another. It always seems to end back at food one way or another. Well back to the rain I hope and pray for many more inches or should I say feet of rain. Have a great day with the rain.
